Professional Development 1: What Is Your "True North"?
In your career, you will learn different skills and types of knowledge. We learn less about our own drivers. Asking, “What is your true North” can keep you focused on what is most important to you in navigating your career. Create with Anita and Joris  your own “Leadership and Professional Development Toolkit”.
Objectives: Objectives for professional development session 1 are based on Strategic Innovative Change Frameworks (Bruce Mau Design, Massive Change Network and Lencioni's Framework for Cohesive Team Development).

  1. To begin, you will develop your "Personal Manifesto for Growth" to start your own travel path in translational medicine. This is your personal “compass” to "be committed to your truth" within the context of translational medicine.
  2. Connect with yourself and your EUREKA Translational Medicine team, implementing Lencioni's model of group development.

These serve as your guide as you navigate your career in translational medicine.

Professional Development 2: When is Conflict Good? How Do You “Fly Together”?
Most of the time we work on teams in a harmonious manner. But sometimes conflict happens. Here, we discuss when conflict is actually good and how to manage conflict to move to the next level of interaction, to strengthen collaboration, the relationship and innovation. Build on you own approach to resolving conflict and learn collaboration frameworks used by mediators internationally. Incorporate these to create effective translational medicine teams.

Objectives: Forum Theatre Techniques are used for participants to gain insights to empower change in your organization and communities. Mediation Frameworks  for international conflict management and collaborative innovation are applied to translational medicine to achieve the following:
1. Explore different approaches for handling conflict situations
2. Reflect on your communication strengths. Consider the strengths you bring to scientific teams in resolving conflict and creating collaborative solutions for change.
3. Experience how to go through true conflict safely and collaboratively through the Mediation Circle: Inventing Options Framework

Professional Development 3: How Do You Bounce Forward?
In your studies and work, you will encounter some thresholds, pitfalls, and other ravines that you may need to climb out of. Here, you will learn how to cope with these issues by increasing your own resilience.
Objectives: Objectives for professional development session 3 are based on Positive Psychology Resilience Frameworks. Anita and Janine share interactive “mindful”, “grit”, “optimism”, “gratitude” and "self-compassion" exercises as a guide to:
1. create your own best strategies for resilience
2. apply them in your personal and professional lives.

Note: Wear comfortable shoes - we will be in the garden. This session includes a brief "mindful walk"/soundscape.

Creativity and Science
Thursday July 9, 2026 14:30 - 17:00 CEST
Anna van Suchtelen and Marc van Mil combine their artistic and educational backgrounds to form an artist-scientist team for Eureka’s creativity program. Their workshop Creativity and Science highlights the false dilemma of considering art and science as binary opposites. The core theme of the workshop is that creativity is not a talent that one either has or does not have: it is a tool that can be activated and deactivated. Through participating in hands-on group activities, students learn when, why, and how creativity can be deployed in their professional lives.
Learning Objectives: Creativity and Science

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
  1. recognize and develop your own creative potential
  2. use your creativity as a tool for generating ideas and solving problems
  3. use your creativity as a tool to facilitate communication and collaboration.
